While acknowledging that ambitious policies are necessary, Ms. Khan stressed the importance of adopting SMART policies – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound – to ensure feasibility and effective implementation.
2. Alignment of National and Provincial Policies
She underscored the need for better alignment between national climate policies and the provincial frameworks, which are key to implementing climate action at the grassroots level.
3. Dedicated Climate Finance
Ms. Khan called for dedicated budget allocations for climate-related activities, emphasizing the importance of climate finance, capacity building, and access to technology as key enablers of climate action.
4. Integrated Resource Management
She highlighted the importance of cross-ministerial coordination to set an example for communities on how to adopt an integrated approach to resource management.
